For The Love of Activewear

Hey Guys,

Hope you are all having a good week, especially because it’s payday!!!

So… this morning I realised that I was going to be snowed in which has actually gone in my favour because now, I can actually catch up on all of the things I have been too busy to do from the comfort of my bed (thank you snow!)

I wanted to write a post about activewear and the best item’s to buy depending on what you do, whether you practice yoga, go to classes, run, dance or weight-lift. I want to talk about two of my new found favourite activewear brands, Gymshark and LuLu Lemon.

A fellow blogger friend of mine (StyleByMLM) loves the brand Gymshark and has recently got me into loving the brand as well. I don’t know what it is about activewear but I am so fussy when it comes to not being able to physically see items first before buying them but I am so glad I decided to try out the brand after hearing so many good reviews.

I purchased five item’s from the brand and they were all a perfect fit and of a great quality. What I love about Gymshark is that the products are still fashionable whilst being functional at the same time.

I can’t rate the sport bra’s enough, they are so comfortable and have good support and retail at ¬£28. Most of the other styles retail around ¬£28-¬£30. The second item is the ballet crop top that is ¬£26, I purchased this top in blue and I love it. I also purchased the long sleeved¬†pink top that retails at ¬£30. Usually, I dress in black and white so it was nice to add a bit of colour into my workout clothes. The dry sculpture leggings are currently on sale at ¬£25 and they are so comfortable and great for any workout. (they dry so quickly too after washing them) The bottom right navy leggings are the winter running leggings retailing at ¬£40, they are great for holding in insulation ¬†whilst regulating your temperature at the same time. They also have a zip pocket at the back. Generally, Gymshark have activewear to suit most activities. I love mine for doing anything weight orientated or even going to a step or body pump class. I would definitely recommend, plus you can get discount if you are a student through the Student Beans website.

When I was in Australia in October, I discovered the brand Lu Lu Lemon as it is so big over there compared to Glasgow. Me and my friend loved the brand and purchased all sorts of workout clothes. To my amazement, there is a LuLu Lemon store based in Glasgow City Centre (I honestly don’t know how I never came across it before) I was recently at a Kiehl”s Inner Strength event in Glasgow where LuLu Lemon came along to showcase the brands high-waisted¬†leggings that I was gifted and they are an absolute dream! LuLuLemons ranges are¬†perfect for any kind of training or practice from running, lifting, yoga or just generally working out at the gym.

The leggings I had been given at the event were the ‘Align Pant 25’ that you can see below. They are amazing for practicing Yoga in. The leggings are designed to lower distractions and have optimum comfort, they are so lightweight and you don’t feel restricted. The high-rise covers your core and they are perfect for teaming up with a sports bra or crop top. The leggings retail at ¬£88 but it is totally worth it because they will last you such a long time and they are so comfy. The pair I purchased in Perth are also a delight and have been worn A LOT!

Apolis: Advocacy Through Industry

Good evening guys, I hope you are all having a good start to the week.

Tonight, I wanted to share with you the American brand Apolis that is based in Los Angeles, California in the U.S.A. I can’t begin to tell you all the amazing work this brand does to encourage a social change in aiming to improve the lives of those that live in third world countries as well as improving environmental¬†standards … also, I can’t fail to mention the brands great range and quality of products. I am privileged to have been given the opportunity to promote the brand, particularly due to the efforts of Apolis making a difference in the diverse world that we live in.

Screen Shot 2018-02-20 at 20.25.05

Two brothers named Raan and Shea Parton (you can see above) founded the Apolis brand in 2004 when they had been influenced from their travels that involved a lot of ups and downs, this gave them inspiration to create a simple business idea that could create social change and help build bridges to economic development. Both brothers have a commitment to global advocacy. They have partnered with manufacturers in Uganda, Banglandesh, Peru and even nearby the main base of Apolis in Los Angeles to name a few. The brands business model of ‘Advocacy Through Industry’ aims to encourage individuals to determine their own future.

Apolis are a Certified B corporation and what this means is that they have went above and beyond the standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

The brand sells lots of different ¬†T-shirts, shirts, jackets, blazers, trousers, swimwear and many kinds of accessories that can even be personalised! What’s not to love?

I was gifted this personalised market tote bag that is a godsend for all of the stuff I carry around with me on a daily basis as well as doing a food shop of course. I have to admit, I am not the best at being environmentally friendly but this is a step in the right direction for avoiding the use of plastic bags.

After looking into how the bags are produced and the projects behind the manufacturing process really amazed me. I found a Youtube video that showed ‘The Bangladesh Project’ that involved woman manufacturing market bags like my personalised one that I have shown you all above. The project has helped support local orphanages within the Northern area of Bangladesh by providing school supplies and uniforms as well as facilitating literacy programmes for families within the community, this emphasises how the brand is creating such a difference for individuals in areas around less developed countries as well as giving woman more skills and an income to live on. You can have a look at the video here, I would definitely encourage you all to check it out as it really is inspiring.

The finest quality of materials is used to manufacture the products allowing them to last for a long duration without wear and tear, they are also very fashionable as well in my opinion. You can have a look at the website via the link below to see some of the products that Apolis sell.

I hope this post has inspired you to check out the brand or even similar ones that promote a change in the world and helps you do so too.

My Experience with Cocoa Locks

Hey Guys,

Can you believe we are into the second week in January already?

Today I wanted to talk about my collaboration with the brand Cocoa Locks which is a product that uses powerful hair vitamins in a chocolate shake or hot chocolate form. What’s not to love?

Cocoa Locks promise that with the use of their products you will receive the following benefits:

Longer, Stronger & Thicker Hair

Ease of convenience just to having one shake/hot chocolate a day

Clinically Proven Fast Hair Growth

Better Absorption Than Traditional Tablets

Only 32 Calories

All The Vital Vitamins And Nutrients

Delicious Hot Chocolate/Chocolate Shake For Fabulous Hair

So, hot chocolate and a chocolate hair shake that tastes amazing and makes your hair grow… I thought it would be too good to be true, however I found the Cocoa Locks one month hair trial beneficial towards my journey to having longer and healthier hair. You can see people who have tried the products results via the link below.

Personally, I am always sceptical about products that promise to grow you hair or make you slimmer etc… however, I really wanted to give this one a try after seeing the amazing results that came along from people‚Äôs experiences. My hair grows at a snails pace and generally grows out the way rather than down. Since starting the Cocoa Locks programme I‚Äôve found my hair to be in a much better condition in terms of it feeling healthier, smoother, fuller, less frizzy, maintainable and stronger which is helping my hair grow. I have noticed a slight difference in length of around half an inch, which believe me is impressive for my hair.

Every single person is different and achieves different results at different paces when using the hair programme. I aim to continue the programme for another two months as I am starting to see the benefits of the product already and can’t wait to see the results over the next eight weeks.

If you want to give the Hairshake or Hot Chocolate shake a try, you can use code DENIMSLATTES20 for 20% discount across items you can find from the link below. I am looking forward to sharing the rest of my process with you.

Have a great week,

Valentino Rock Stud Trainers

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had the most amazing Christmas spent with loved ones and that you don’t feel too guilty for over indulging on pigs in blankets …

Today’s post is about my new Valentino Garavani Rockstud Noir trainers¬†I have invested in. I have never been someone who has purchased designer item/s, mainly because I simply can’t afford anything due to being a student/having a part time job. I am also the most clumsiest and forgetful person you will ever meet so the thought of loosing/damaging a designer piece that I paid a lot of money for completely freaks me out.

I have been obsessed with Valentino Rock Stud heels and trainers for AGES, from working in Flannels that sells designer item/s, it was only a matter of time before I would purchase one of the two. After deciding to go for the black pair featuring rock stud details, I was so excited to wear them, especially since the last pair were in my size. (It was meant to be!!)

The Shoes Feature; studs on the band, black laces, a number 11 label and rubber soles.

My trainers have yet to be worn and I can’t wait to show you all what I decide to style them with.

If you want to look at the other colours/styles of Valentino flats, you can do so via the link below.

Hope you all have a nice evening,

Kartel: Watches With a Story To Tell

I know it has been months and months since I last wrote up a blog post, life has been busy from moving house, starting new job/s and starting my Fashion Branding course at university (which is amazing) Now I’m back and I want to dedicate a few hours each week into making my blog bigger and better as I have missed it ALOT.

I wanted to talk about the independent Scottish watch brand Kartel in my post this evening as I have collaborated with the brand previously and they have came so far in such a short space of time.

The brand consists of  timeless and classic watches that all relate to Scottish heritage, which I obviously love, being Scottish and all …. Each of the watches have a Scottish name such as ‚ÄėSinclair‚Äô or ‚ÄėKendrick‚Äô which I thought was quite interesting as it show’s how all of the inspiration has been taken from the creator/s background which relates to the brand as a whole, essentially meaning there is a story behind each of the watches.

As my colour palette tends to consist of black, white, grey, nude (anything with a neutral palette basically) I decided to go for the classic ‘Lewis’ watch that features a white face and black leather strap.

Screen Shot 2017-12-04 at 23.50.06

I don’t think I could find a more suited watch for myself!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

What I love about Kartel watches is that they are gender neutral and affordable. Can you believe that this watch is only ¬£69!?

You can also receive engraving services on the watches which is great for a personalised touch.

A Kartel watch would make the perfect gift for any occasion and you also have the option to build you own watch with a selected face and strap. AMAZING, right?

The idea is that you choose what style of watch you like, the dial colour and strap off your choice from the ‘Watch Builder’ option you can find via this link.

There are so many different watch styles that you can choose that can be personal to your own style.

If you are still doing your Christmas shopping like me …. then definitely consider a Kartel gift this Christmas. It will not disappoint.

Good Night,

Alana xo

Casual T and Blazer

So recently I’ve been keeping my eye out for staple pieces for the A/W seasons approaching.

With the sales being on, I was browsing on Topshops clearance and came across a black loose fitted blazer that was exactly what I was looking for… even better it was reduced from ¬£49 to just ¬£10!

I love the gold button details and how you can wear it as a top as it wraps over when it fastens. It also features slits in the sleeve which is a great style detail, perfect if you like accessorising with bracelets and watches that you want to be visible.

There’s still sizes 8,10 and 12 in store so be sure to grab yours quickly. I’ll attach a link below.

I also fell in love with the Milan T shirt by the brand Tee and Cake in Topshop, it’s so simple yet chic and perfect for dressing up or down. It is definitely a great staple piece, especially for ¬£18.

You can find the link to both items below!

Happy Sunday,

Alana xo

Hey guys,

Recently I have teamed up with the Swiss watch brand, Swatch to review the brand’s new SKIN collection range.

I was invited to a bloggers event at the Swatch store in Glasgow on Buchanan Street where each of us got to try on all of the watches from the new collection and I’m in love.

The idea for the SKIN range was to mark a new era for the brands thinnest watch line. It takes inspiration from the unknown, the beauty of movement and the anticipation of change. The collection is unisex and includes different face sizes too.

After trying the watches on, I was in minimalist heaven making my decision on what one to choose so much harder.

As I have a few classic watches I decided to go for a more sporty/chic style of watch and after a long decision making process I chose this one you can see below.

The misty rose dial features diamanté crystals around the drill points that make it look really classic yet suitable for everyday wear.

When I tried this watch on I couldn’t believe just how light it was, you wouldn’t even notice it being on your wrist like you do with other watches. I wear mine all of the time now, especially to the gym.

The look of the watch comes together with the misty rose matte silicone strap, loop and buckle.

I usually find it hard to find a watch that fits my wrist size, the buckle holes in this watch have good size variations meaning if you want to wear it loose or tight, you have the option.

The watches come in so many different styles with one to suit everyone’s tastes.

You can see the other styles of watches from the range below and can find them via this link:

I would definitely recommend checking them out if you are looking for a timeless piece to add to your watch collection.
